This project involved engaging members of the public in a Café Scientifique. This sparked a thought-provoking and lively debate about the dominant conceptual framework, Successful Aging, guiding much research on aging. We explored questions that are of great interest to the public:
- What does it mean to be ‘successful’ at aging?
- Can someone ‘fail’ at aging?
- What are the implications of these terms for aging in a diverse society?
- How might these terms promote a negative view of growing older?
The project was funded by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research.
