Educating patients on the warning signs that their health is worsening and what to do is usually a nurse’s job. However, in rural communities, where there are limited numbers of nurses, other healthcare providers may be required to take on this role. Understanding their perspectives of this intervention is a necessary first step to avert the consequences of low acceptability, such as poor intervention implementation, uptake, and effectiveness. In this paper, we compare the perspectives of nurses and other healthcare providers on the acceptability of a warning signs intervention proposed for rural healthcare.
